Würzburg Baskets have announced their first signing for the upcoming season. Brandon Tischler from Bundesliga rival Ludwigsburg Giants is joining the team. Würzburg sees Tischler as "one of the best defenders in the league". Both clubs announced on Wednesday that Tischler has signed a two-year contract with the quarterfinalist of this year's Bundesliga playoffs. "We're looking forward to Brandon. He's one of the best defenders in the BBL and can play on multiple positions", said Würzburg's sports director Kresimir Loncar in the press release. "From our point of view, he still has development potential in the offense and fits very well into the system of Sasa Filipovski." For the 25-year-old, Würzburg is already his fourth station in German professional basketball. His first steps were taken by the native Bamberg at Baskets' partner Baunach in Pro A and Pro B. He then followed several-year stations in Braunschweig and most recently in Ludwigsburg. In the previous season, Tischler played in all 37 games and averaged 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds. Tischler himself addressed the Ludwigsburg fans in his farewell statement, expressing gratitude for the past two years, but also addressing the missed playoffs: "Even if everything wasn't always optimal, I gave everything and learned a lot as a player and person here in Ludwigsburg." Ludwigsburg has already recorded eight departures this summer. A list of all 18 Bundesliga teams' roster changes for the 2026/27 season can be found here.
